The Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team are ready to sit down with 2014 Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton in order to secure a long term contract with the Brackley based team for the double world champion.

Hamilton won his second championship in style on Sunday as he claimed his 12th win of the season at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix having stormed into the lead of the race at the start of the race after team mate and pole sitter Nico Rosberg got bogged down off the start and suffered a number of mechanical issues with his W05 including an Energy Recovery System failure.

Hamilton has just completed his second year of a three year contract with the Silver Arrows with the team eager to extend their association.

Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ in Abu Dhabi on Monday, Hamilton stated that he sees a new agreement with the team will be a 'simple process.'

Hamilton has confirmed that he will sit down with Mercedes Executive Director (Business) Toto Wolff over the coming weeks to come to an agreement. Hamilton's team mate Nico Rosberg has already put pen to paper on a new contract with the 2014 Constructors champions after agreeing a new 'multi-year' extension to his Mercedes contract.
