Force India hopeful of catching Williams to reclaim fourth place in the Constructors championship

Sahara Force India team boss Dr Vijay Mallya is confident that his team can catch and overtake Williams Martini Racing before the end of the season after his team lost fourth place in Constructors championship to the Grove based outfit following the British Grand Prix in Silverstone.

The team had a disappointing race last time out in Hungary at the weekend after both Sergio Perez and Nico Hulkenberg went out of the race. Hulkenberg had a heavy crash coming out of the final corner but was unhurt. Force India are now just one point ahead of McLaren who are currently in 6th place in the championship.

Although Force India are 37 point's behind Williams, Mallya is hopeful that in the second half of the season his team will be able to overhaul the Grove based outfit. Speaking to the official Formula One website: Mallya commented:

'Can we catch Williams? Yes, we can, We have to work hard at it, but there's still a long way to go. They have done a great job and one should complement them for this – probably in the same way that we are doing well – unexpectedly – as a midfield, small team. The opportunity is there.'

The Hungarian Grand Prix was Force India's first double retirement of the 2014 Formula One season, despite this Mallya has been extremely pleased with how the team has performed this season.

The team have already scored more points this season then they did during the entire 2013 F1 season. Last season the team scored 77 point's and finished the season in 6th place in the Constructors championship while so far this season they have scored 98 point's and are two points ahead of McLaren.
