A change in line-up would slow success

(Mercedes AMG F1 Team)

Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team Executive Director (Business) Toto Wolff has stated that the newly crowned Constructors want to retain Lewis Hamilton alongside Nico Rosberg for the long term. Hamilton, who currently leads the drivers championship by 17 points over team Nico Rosberg is out of contract with the Silver Arrows at the end of next season.

Wolff believes if Hamilton was to be replaced it would cause problems for the Brackley based outfit and would upset the team. Speaking about the situation Wolff stated:

'We have a contract with both of our drivers for 2015. We want to continue with the current line-up because these two boys are part of the success of the team because they know each other so well and because they respect each other. '

Wolff went on to say:

'I think if you get somebody else in that fight it could be detrimental to the team's performance. Our main priority is to continue with Lewis and Nico beyond 2015.'

Mercedes Benz chairman Dieter Zetsche recently stated that he feels that Fernando Alonso is 'maybe the best driver in F1.'

Despite his statement about Alonso,Toto Wolff stated that the Brackley based outfit are not under pressure from board room level at Mercedes to sign Alonso.
