The Sauber F1 Team have revealed that Simona De Silvestro is no longer part of the Swiss based outfit's driver set up due to what have been described as 'contractual issues'. The news means that the Swiss driver will not be driving for the team in Austin next month as they had hoped to put her in the car however due to the issues she has not been able to secure the mandatory FIA Super Licence.

De Silvestro had hoped to be in a position to drive for the Swiss based outfit on a full-time basis in 2015 however this now seems unlikely.

Speaking to Autosport a Sauber F1 Team spokesman commented:

'Simona's driving programme is not being continued due to financial reasons on her side. Everybody in the team who worked with her during the last six months is very disappointed it came to this point, because they liked working with her.'

The team have confirmed that Simona will remain with the team as an affiliate driver but that it will take time for them to come up with other ways for her to work with the team.
