Infiniti Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner believes that his team are closing the gap to championship leaders Mercedes following the reigning world champions first double podium since the Canadian Grand Prix in June after Sebastian Vettel and Daniel Ricciardo finished the Singapore Grand Prix last weekend in second and third place respectively.

The Milton Keynes based outfit area now 174 points behind the Silver Arrows in the race for the Constructors championship with five Grand Prix remaining this season.

Horner feels that the team's performance in Singapore was skewed following the deployment of the Safety Car during the race. Horner believes that the team are bridging the gap to Mercedes thanks to Brackley based outfit's recent reliability issues. Horner stated:

'I think the technology is so advanced now that there are going to be issues.'

Daniel Ricciardo is currently in third place in the championship, 60 points behind championship leader Lewis Hamilton with five race's to go this season.
