Bahrain set to continue as a night race

(Mercedes AMG F1 Team)

Bahrain circuit boss Zayed Al Zayani has confirmed that the GrandPrix at the Sakhir circuit will remain a night race. This year marks ten years since Bahrain made its debut on the Formula One calendar and to celebrate the race will be start at 6PM local time on Sunday.

Speaking to the media ahead of the race Al Zayani said:

'We have invested in the lighting project and it's a permanent structure - so going forward all our grands prix will be held at the same time from now on.' He went on to say: 'It would not have been wise to just do the night race as a one-off'.

Night race's in Formula One have proven to be extremely popular amongst fan's, driver's and the team's alike since the Singapore night race was introduced to the F1 calendar in 2008. Since then we have seen the race at Abu Dhabi run at night while the Australian Grand Prix was also run as a twilight race.

It is certainly a spectacle to behold a Formula One car at full speed at night and the officials at the Sakhir circuit have done a superb job transforming the circuit for a night time start.
