Lotus not where they expected to be

(Jean Michel - Le Meur DPPI for Renault Sport F1)

Lotus F1 Team's Romain Grosjean has admitted that the Enstone squad head into the Bahrain Grand Prix tomorrow 'nowhere near' where they expected to be at this stage of the 2014 Formula One season. This time last season for example the team had one win when Kimi Raikkonen won the season opening Australian Grand Prix. In Bahrain last season, the team secured a double podium finish, however a repeat of that result this season is extremely unlikely.

Speaking following Friday Practice, Grosjean said:

'We just need more time to understand why in the windtunnel the car looks good and on the track it's not as good as we hoped' The Frenchman went on to say: 'Mercedes has a bit of an advantage but we are miles off where we would like to be'.

The team may not be in a position to challenge for a podium finish this weekend but they will be hoping for a stronger race performance during tomorrow's Bahrain night race.
