Kimi Raikkonen was much happier with the performance of the Ferrari F14T following Saturday's qualifying session for Sunday's Bahrain Grand Prix at the Sakhir circuit.

The Finn has endured a difficult return to Ferrari after two season's with the Lotus F1 Team however after out-qualifying team mate Fernando Alonso for the first time this season Raikkonen is confident that he can achieve a strong result from Sunday's race. Speaking to the media after qualifying Raikkonen said:

'Yesterday the long runs felt very difficult but suddenly on the soft tyre it felt pretty nice'

The Finn who will start the race from fifth on the grid said that the changes that he asked for seemed to have helped and that he feels more confident with how the car has run this weekend compared to where he was with the car in the first two race's of the season.

Despite the fact that he is happier with where the car is, Raikkonen has stated that the team are still not where they want to be and that is to be challenging the Mercedes duo at the front. The Finn said that the team have the right people in place to get where they want to be but that it will take time.

Starting fifth for Sunday's race is a great step in the right direction and it will be interesting to see how the Finn gets on in the race. He has also been good at his race starts so we'll see how he does under the lights later today in Bahrain. The Iceman has had some great results here recently taking two podium finishes with the Lotus F1 Team finishing in second place in 2012 and last year so the Finn will be hoping for a similarly strong result for Ferrari today.
