The Ferrari team endured an extremely tough Bahrain Grand Prix at the Sakhir circuit on Sunday. Kimi Raikkonen started the race from fifth on the grid while Fernando Alonso started the race from 9th.
The F14T which carried a number of upgrades for today's night race just didn't have the race pace to keep up with the Mercedes powered cars or even the Renault powered Red Bull team. Fernando Alonso finished the race in 9th place while Kimi Raikkonen finished the race in 10th place. The team had been hoping that their new updates would enable them to beat Red Bull Racing but they were unable to match the pace.
Raikkonen finished the race 33.4 seconds behind race winner Lewis Hamilton and this is something that the team certainly did not want. Ahead of the race today Raikkonen said that the team are heading in the right direction and know what needs to be done to catch Mercedes.
Whatever the team need to do they will want to do it fast as after another 1-2 finish for Mercedes today Ferrari are now 5th in the Constructors championship where the money is, 78 point's behind leaders Mercedes and just three point's ahead of the Williams Martini Racing Team.
The Italian team no have two week's in which to sort out the issues that had with their car in Bahrain before the team's head to China for the next race. However, before then they have two day's of in-season testing at the Sakhir circuit on Tuesday and Wednesday so they will be hoping to catch their rivals of the coming two day's.
