Could Haas team up with Mercedes?

(Mercedes AMG F1 Team)

Gene Haas, the potential new Formula One entrant in 2015 has said that he is currently in negotiations with Ferrari over a potential customer engine deal, however, there is now another engine manufacturer who could fit the bill for the American team.

Mercedes, who will lose long-term partner McLaren next season when the Woking based team move to a supply of Honda power units, will be looking for a new team to supply for 2015 and Haas could fit the bill.

The new 1.6 litre V6 power unit has proven to be the class of the field so far this season as the Mercedes AMG F1 Team have won the first three Grand Prix of the season and at yesterday's Bahrain Grand Prix 6 of the top ten finishers were powered by Mercedes engines with the Ferrari works team finishing the race in 9th and 10 respectively.

Bernie Ecclestone, the commercial rights holder of Formula One has confirmed that there could be potentially two new team's entering Formula One from next season so we could have one of the new team's powered by Mercedes and the other new team could be powered by Ferrari.
