Hamilton will bounce back

(Mercedes AMG F1 Team)

Mercedes F1 chief Toto Wolf has backed Lewis Hamilton to return to the front at the next race, the Austrian Grand Prix next weekend. Hamilton retired from 2nd place last time out at the Canadian Grand Prix and is now 22 point's behind team mate Nico Rosberg who is leading the championship. Wolff has described Hamilton as 'a fighter'.

Prior to the Canadian and Monaco Grand Prix Hamilton went on a four race winning streak but has now retired from two Grand Prix this season whereas Nico Rosberg has finished every race so far this season and that is why the German has such a commanding lead in the championship and why Mercedes are currently having it all their own way at the top of the Constructors championship on 258 point's.

Wolff explained that the team spoke with Hamilton and apologized for letting the 22008 world champion down.

The Mercedes team boss also stated he the margin between both driver's is not insurmountable as the gap is less then a race win and Wolff believes that Hamilton has plenty of time to catch Rosberg particular as the final race in Abu Dhabi counts for double point's.

The Brackley based outfit are taking nothing for granted and Wolff is not expecting an easy ride to the championship despite their current advantageous position in both championship's.

Last time out in Canada, Formula One saw its first non Mercedes win of the season as Infiniti Red Bull Racing's Daniel Ricciardo took his first ever Formula One victory to move up to third place in Driver's championship.
