Infiniti Red Bull Racing are certain that Sebastian Vettel will remain with the Milton Keynes based outfit despite the news on Sunday that chief technical officer Adrian Newey is to to take a step back from Formula One next season. The German has won all four of his world champions with Red Bull. Speaking about his current position within the team, following Adrian Newey's announcement Vettel said:
'Well, I think my contract's still long enough... I'm looking short-term if you ask me about the future right now.'
Speaking about Sebastian Vettel, Red Bull boss Christian Horner commented:
'Sebastian is never going to talk about what the state of his contracts are, but he has enjoyed a huge amount of success with the team. And I have got no doubt that he will be with the team for many years to come.'
Horner went on to explain that the team feel no need to replace Newey saying that they have great strength and depth within the technical department at Red Bull Racing.
Horner also revealed that for the rest of the 2014 season Newey will continue to work on designing the 2015 car and will also be hoping to improve the performance of the BR10. The team were celebrating on Sunday as Daniel Ricciardo scored his first ever Formula One victory finishing the race just ahead of Mercedes Nico Rosberg and team mate Sebastian Vettel.
The result has moved Ricciardo up to third place in the drivers championship on 79 point's.
