Red Bull set to stay with Renault power

(Jean Michel Le Meur DDPI for Renault Sport F1)

Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner has confirmed that the Milton Keynes based outfit will remain with Renault power for next season and beyond quashing specultion that the four time world champions had issued the French car company with an ultimatum.

Speaking in Canada on Friday Horner stated that the only ultimatum that was given to Renault was that they are looking for Renault to improve their engine performance as soon as possible. Red Bull Racing along with the other Renault powered team's Toro Rosso, Caterham and the Lotus F1 Team have struggled so far this season to get up to speed with Mercedes.

'Renault fully understands the predicament they are in, But there are no ultimatums other than we want to improve as quickly as we can. We have enjoyed a great deal of success with them over the years and four World Championships have come with a Renault engine and we trust them to sort their issues out.'

Horner responded when asked about the teams current situation with Renault amid reports that they will hold talks with the engine supply during the Austrian Grand Prix race weekend later this month at the Red Bull Ring.

Horner confirmed that the team have seen some improvements in particular relating to fuel as the team have been working very closely with Total, their official fuel and oil supplier. Red Bull head into this weekend's Grand Prix in Canada following back to back podium finishes for Daniel Ricciardo.

This morning Sebastian Vettel completed 28 lap's at the Montreal circuit and set the 4th fastest time finishing just behind Ferrari's Fernando Alonso and the Mercedes pair of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. Meanwhile Daniel Ricciardo completed 26 lap's on his way to finishing in 6th place just behind Valtteri Bottas in the Williams and just ahead of McLaren's Jenson Button.
