Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen said he was pleased and quietly confident for Sunday's Canadian Grand Prix despite losing some track time during Free Practice One on Friday as a result of a loss of power early on in the first session. The Finn finished Free Practice One in 9th place while Fernando Alonso topped the time sheets.
However in Free Practice Two Raikkonen, who has a new assistant engine, David Lloyd who has been brought into the race team from the test team to assist the Finn finished the session in fourth place just ahead of team mate Fernando Alonso.
Speaking following Friday's running Raikkonen was delighted with the work by his engineers:
'Thanks to speedy work from the team, in the afternoon, we managed to make up for the run lost in the morning and even if it's too early to make predictions, overall, it didn't go badly and by the end of the day my feeling with the car had improved," said Räikkönen after stepping out of the car.'
The Finn went on to say:
'I am still not 100 per cent happy with the handling of the F14 T, but I am sure that an analysis of the data we gathered will point us in the right direction for qualifying and the race.'
Ferrari have brought a raft of updates to the F14-T including new front and rear wing components along with a major engine upgrade which the team hopes will help them move up the grid and close the gap to Mercedes and Red Bull.
