McLaren Racing Director Eric Boullier believes that Fernando
Alonso made the right call moving from Scuderia Ferrari to his team over the
winter.
Many in Formula One have criticised Alonso’s return to
McLaren as Ferrari have returned to form in 2015 winning the Malaysian Grand
Prix with Sebastian Vettel and are currently in second place in the
championship, Alonso on the other had a struggled since his return to the
Woking based outfit getting lapped by former team mate Kimi Raikkonen last time
out.
Former world champion Jacques Villeneuve even suggested that
the move had effectively ended Alonso’s career with the Canadian saying that
the Spaniard will never win again.
However Boullier has defended the double world champion’s
decision to return to McLaren saying that he does not think that he made the
wrong decision. Last time out in Bahrain, Alonso finished the race just outside
the top ten in eleventh place.
Boullier went on to say that Alonso knew going into the
McLaren Honda project things would be difficult but that it is ‘very
very young’.
