Newgarden airborne in horrifying Indianapolis 500 practice crash

Three time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves was airborne in a horrendous crash during practice for the 99th Indianapolis 500 on Wednesday.

At the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Thursday morning it was Carpenter Fisher Hartman Racing Team’s Josef Newgarden who went airborne in yet another horrifying crash.

The American lost control at the same point as Helio Castroneves did yesterday into T1 however unlike the Brazilian, Newgarden’s car remained on its side upside down.

Newgarden was, like Castroneves left uninjured thankfully. Speaking following the accident the American stated that he was surprised by what happened. Newgarden said the team were fortunate that the tub held up.

Newgarden completed 56 laps for the day with a best lap of 225.652mph which came on Wednesday.
