Williams Martini Racing Team Chief Technical Officer Pat Symonds understands why Valtteri Bottas is being linked with the likes of Scuderia Ferrari.

The Finn has in recent weeks been linked with replacing his countryman Kimi Raikkonen at Scuderia Ferrari either next year or in 2017. Bottas had an incredibly strong season last year with Williams finishing the season in fourth place on 186 points.

Symonds went on to say that he hopes that Valtteri Bottas will stay at the team and is hoping to provide the Finn with the motivation to remain with the Grove based outfit beyond the end of this season.

Bottas heads into Sunday’s race in fifth place in the championship on 42 points just ten behind Kimi Raikkonen.
