Lauda expects protracted Hamilton contract to be in place by Monaco

(Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team)

The long running story about reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton’s new contract with the Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team is expected to be resolved ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix in two weeks according to Non-Executive Chairman Niki Lauda.

Hamilton’s current contract with the Brackley based outfit expires at the end of the season and he has been in talks with the team to extend the deal since he won the 2014 championship.

There had been many rumours doing the rounds as to why there was a hold up in concluding a new deal surrounding money and that Hamilton wanted outright number one status at the team however these rumours were completely unfounded and absolute nonsense.

For the first time in his career, Hamilton is negotiating his own contract and he stated that the reason for the delay in announcing a new deal was down to the fact that the contract was going back and forward between the lawyers. It now appears that the new deal will be announced ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix.
