The Lotus F1 Team are not for sale according to CEO Matthew
Carter. It has been reported that Renault are currently looking into their role
in Formula One.
Renault currently provide power units to Infiniti Red Bull
Racing and Scuderia Toro Rosso however the French manufacturer according to
Carter are looking at all of the options including remaining as a power unit
supplier, pulling out altogether or buying becoming a works team.
The Lotus F1 Team were previously owned by Renault before
the company sold the team to Gerard Lopez’s Genii Capital at the end of 2009.
The Enstone outfit have switched from Renault to Mercedes
from the 2015 season and Carter revealed that shareholders at the outfit have
no intention of selling the team.
Carter also stated that with the new Mercedes
partnership the Lotus F1 Team have given themselves the opportunity to perform
as they should and compete regularly for points finishes.
