No Red Bull/Renault seperation despite speculation

Renault Sport F1’s Managing Director Cyril Atibeoul has stated that he believes that there is no reason why his company should divorce from Infiniti Red Bull Racing and Scuderia Toro Rosso amid speculation that Infiniti Red Bull Racing could join forces with Audi in the future.

Renault have endured a difficult start to the 2015 Formula One season with Infiniti Red Bull Racing’s Daniel Ricciardo already onto his fourth and final power unit of the season and there have only been five Grand Prix this season. Infiniti Red Bull Racing currently find themselves in fourth place in the championship on 30 points, 51 behind Williams Martini Racing.

Abiteboul has stated however that despite their current struggles Renault are in Formula One long term.

He is unsure whether or not there is a better ‘wife’ for Red Bull or Toro Rosso. A new manufacturer would have to come into Formula One if the team were to get a new supplier as Mercedes, Ferrari and Honda are unlikely to want to supplier their chief rivals in the sport.

Abiteboul concluded by saying that he feels that they have to do a better job both on and off track.
