(McLaren Honda)
McLaren chairman Ron Dennis is fully aware of how hard the
Woking based outfit are working in order to improve the performance. The team
confirmed this after British media reported that the former Team Principal
suggested during the team’s Spanish Grand Prix debrief that he had given Racing
Director Eric Boullier
‘A good kick in the a**’
McLaren Honda managed to get just one car to the finish last
time out with Jenson Button ending the race in 16th place one lap down
on race winner Nico Rosberg while Fernando Alonso was forced to retire from the
race as a result of brake failure.
The team have confirmed that the quote above which was
printed in a British newspaper was meant as a humorous comment from Mr Dennis
and that it has been taken out of context as is the case in a lot of media
reporting in that media are looking for a certain reaction so they spin
something in a certain way.
The team have confirmed that far from kicking butts, Ron
Dennis is in fact working closely with Eric Boullier to bring in the
operational and structural changes necessary in order to bring the team back to
the front of Formula One.
The fact of the matter is that McLaren would not have entered
into a partnership with Honda if they did not believe 100% that they would be
successful with the Japanese manufacturer.
McLaren went on to say that Ron Dennis is extremely
appreciative of the hard work been done by the team in Woking and Honda in
Japan and at their base in Milton Keynes, England. Fernando Alonso believes
that the team could potentially be in a position to challenge for points in
Monaco this weekend.
