Ferrari's Fernando Alonso has stated that he will not consider retiring from Formula One until he secured a third world title. Alonso won back to back championships with Renault in 2005 and 2006. The Spaniard, who joined Ferrari in 2010 replacing Kimi Raikkonen has come close to the elusive third crown at the Italian team but has failed to take repeat 2005.

Speaking ahead of this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix Alonso said:

"We are still hungry for success, waiting for our opportunity to become Champion. "This is the main goal and you don't think of retiring until you get some satisfaction.

Alonso went on to say:

'It is something I am working for and hoping for. Three titles means a step. It is not that I'm not happy with two but the third puts you in a list of very important names."I have been close twice and hopefully the next opportunity we have we don't miss it again."

When asked about how long he feels he will stay in Formula One, the Spaniard was open minded saying he can see himself continuing in F1 for the next three, five or even seven season's. Alonso was also asked about his relationship with Ferrari president Luca Di Montezemelo amid reports their relationship has thawed recently. He denied this however saying that the pair talk at least once a week and three of four times over the course of a race weekend.
