Gene Haas, the owner of the new American Haas Formula team which was granted entry to Formula One from next season has confirmed that his new team will delay their entry and will instead make their debut in 2016.
Speaking to Forbes, Haas said:
'The plan is absolutely to launch in 2016 and we are fully committed to that, I don't think there is any doubt about that whatsoever. I think we will be a better team because we will have more time to plan and we will be able to do a lot more engineering in Kannapolis.'
Haas went on to say:
'We have been working on a building there since November of last year as part of the expansion of the NASCAR team. In about a month we will have the NASCAR site open then about a month later we will have the Formula One site operational so we can go in there.'
The main reason for the delay is down to the fact that the outfit failed in their bid to get a European base in Italy off the ground and Haas has now confirmed that like so many of the current Formula One team's, Haas Formula's European base will be in England.
The delay also means that the team can take their time in choosing a driver line-up along ith other technical partners
Haas will be in Montreal this weekend for the Camadian Grand Prix where he wants to find out more about the logistical side of Formula One.
