Amid reports in Finland that Valtteri Bottas is set to join Ferrari in 2017, Maurizio Arrivabene, Ferrari Team Principal has refused to rule out the possibility however has stated that it is too early to discuss what the team will do next season.

Kimi Raikkonen secured his first podium finish since the 2013 Korean Grand Prix and his first since his return to Scuderia Ferrari last season at the last Grand Prix in Bahrain three weeks ago when he finished the race in second place behind race winner Lewis Hamilton.

Arrivabene stated however that he would re-sign Raikkonen based on one result and has stated now that it is not just the racing side of things that the team will consider when it comes to deciding on whether or not to retain Raikkonen. Arrivabene has also all but confirmed that Lewis Hamilton will remain at Mercedes next season as he has ruled out signing the double world champion as the Prancing Horse have a great driver in Vettel and that when the time comes they may look to young drivers.

Arrivabene also confirmed that he likes the way that Vettel and Raikkonen work well together and that sometimes they even travel together. The pair have been friends for a long time and prior to Vettel joining the team played badminton together and Arrivabene has confirmed that this is also something that Scuderia Ferrari will also look at when it comes to deciding on whether or not to renew Raikkonen’s contract.
