Jenson Button has revealed that talks between himself and McLaren regarding a contract extension are not progressing at this point in the season. The 2009 champion joined the Woking based outfit in 2010 and has won many Grand Prix including the 2011 Canadian Grand Prix which stands out as his best ever Grand Prix win to date.

Button's current contract with the team runs out this season however he revealed that the pair want to continue to work together in the future and has no desire to leave Formula One any time soon.

Speaking to the media in Canada on Thursday, Button revealed that thy have plenty of other issues to sort out before they sit down to discuss an extension to his stay at the team. Button revealed that despite looks, the team's 2014 season is going an awful lot better compared to where they were last season as 2013 was a disastrous one by their high standards which resulted in changes at a management level with Eric Boullier coming in from Lotus to replace Martin Whitmarsh in newly created role of Racing Director.

In the first race of the 2014 season, Button finished the race in third place behind team mate Kevin Magnussen and Mercedes Nico Rosberg.

Button believes that the team will find it tricky in Montreal this weekend particularly with the cooler track temperatures that are expected for practice tomorrow. There are also the potential for thunderstorms over the course of the weekend and as Button himself discovered in 2011 the weather in Montreal can be extremely unpredictable.
