McLaren's Jenson Button has confirmed that he is only focused on achieving the best result possible for the team at this weekend's Formula One season finale the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and is not thinking about his future.

It was announced on Thursday that Fernando Alonso will leave Ferrari following the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and with the Spaniard expected to join McLaren-Honda for the 2015 season attention has shifted to what Button will do as it is widely expected that Alonso will replace the 2009 world champion at the team.

With Ferrari confirming Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen for next season the Italian team have the most successful partnership in terms of championship victories with five titles between them and if McLaren retain Button next season not only would they have the second most successful pairing in terms of championship victories but they would also have the most experienced driver line-up on the grid.

The pair if they were to become team mate's next season would have a combined total 463 Grand Prix starts between them.

McLaren have already confirmed however that they will not announce their 2015 line-up until the December 1 at the earliest.
