It has emerged that Formula One Supremo Bernie Ecclestone provided the Caterham F1 Team with assistance in getting the Leafield based outfit to the season finale in Abu Dhabi this weekend by waiving the transportation fee to get the teams freight to the Abu Dhabi paddock which arrived on Tuesday.

Mr Ecclestone also charted a plane to get 40 Caterham staff members out to Abu Dhabi for Sunday's race.

Speaking to the Press Association Sport, Ecclestone stated:

'They wanted to go, so we've transported them at no cost to them.'

Mr Ecclestone believes that they have helped the team a little bit more then they should have, however this situation would not have arisen if the sports revenue had been distributed in a fairer way among all of the teams.

As a result of missing the final race this weekend the Marussia F1 Team will now miss out on the price money that they would have received had they held onto their ninth place finish in the championship.

Smith and Williamson, the administrators appointed to the oversee the Caterham F1 Team have done an absolutely fantastic job to get the team to Abu Dhabi and Finbarr O'Connell who is overseeing the operation of the team has done a fantastic job and will hold discussions with potential buyers for the team.

The Leafield based outfit have also been helped by the crowd funding project which has now raised £1,937,691 of the £2.35 million needed to race in Abu Dhabi. It is believed that the teams sponsors will provide the rest of the money necessary,
