Kimi Raikkonen has stated that it will be 'fun' to have Sebastian Vettel as his Ferrari team mate next season. It was confirmed on Thursday that the German will join the Italian team to partner Raikkonen after Ferrari announced the departure of Spaniard Fernando Alonso who has been with the outfit since the 2010 season.

Speaking to the media ahead of Sunday's season finale in Abu Dhabi Raikkonen reacted to the news of Vettel's arrival at the team by saying:

'I think it will be nice to be with him in the same team. Obviously the main objective is to get the Ferrari team in a position where we can be near the front of the field.'

Raikkonen has always said that out of all the drivers on the Formula One grid he gets on with Sebastian Vettel the best. The pair used to play badminton together and are often seen speaking to each other on the drivers parade.

Raikkonen went on to say:

'Of course we will be trying to beat each other all the time but I think we can have fun and get things done in a good way. Our relationship has always been very straightforward and I don't expect any changes on that side. I expect to have a normal and good relationship and hopefully we can get the team back to where we should be.'

Raikkonen heads into Sunday's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix having endured an extremely difficult return to the Ferrari team and is currently in eleventh place in the championship on 53 points just two points behind McLaren's Kevin Magnussen so will hoping to finish the season with a strong result.
