It's official, Ross Brawn has confirmed that he has retired from Formula One, ending speculation linking him with the vacant CEO role at McLaren Racing.
The Englishman announced in December that he was stepping down as team boss of Mercedes and would take six months off before deciding his next move.
Brawn has been extremely successful in Formula One winning the championship with Michael Schumacher seven times.
They won the championship together twice with Benetton in 1994 and 95 before the pair headed to Ferrari.
Following a lean period from 1996 -99 the dream team really got their act together as Brawn led the Ferrari technical department to 5 consecutive Drivers titles.
Brawn moved to Honda in 2007 and when the Japanese manufacturer pulled out of F1 at the end of 2008 Brawn led a management buyout of the team and in 2009 with Mercedes power Brawn GP won both the drivers championship with Jenson Button and also the constructors title.
He sold the team to Mercedes at the end of 2009 and brought Michael Schumacher back to F1 in 2010 before enticing Lewis Hamilton to join the team last season from McLaren.
The team finished last season in second in the constructors championship.
Brawn's position at Mercedes was taken over by their Motorsport Director Toto Wolff and Engineering Director Paddy Lowe.
He is enjoying spending time fishing, spending more time with his family and watching Manchester United play.
