Daniel Bruhl's RUSH stunt double killed in car accident

(Universal Studios Entertainment)

Mauro Pane, the professional stunt driver who acted as Daniel Bruhl's stunt double in the film RUSH has died.

The 50 year old Italian, was reported missing in Italy last Sunday and his body was found in his Renault Megane along with an unidentified passenger on Friday. The car was located by Italian police in a canal and a spokesman said that 'It looks like the car came off the road'

Pane was no stranger to the race track. In 2008, he won the Historic Formula One World Championship.

Pane's company, who specialised in restoring and maintaining old Formula One cars provided Ron Howard with the specific 1970's Grand Prix cars that enabled director Ron Howard to recreate that era and produce what is a absolutely fantastic film.

Pane is the second driver related to the film to have died, in October Sean Edwards, who portrayed his father Guy in the film was killed during a testing accident.
