Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali believes that Kimi Raikkonen who returns to the Italian team for the first time since 2009 has matured as a driver and has the mental strength to compete for the championship this season.

Domenicali also said that the team wanted to pair Alonso with a driver who is motivated and experienced enough to deal with the pressures of what the 2014 F1 will bring with it as the sport enters a turbo era. During his last stint with the Scuderia the media questioned the motivation and commitment to the team when he was spotted in the Ferrari garage with a can of Coke and a Magnum ice cream. At the time he was out of the race anyway so there was nothing to the story.

However the Ferrari boss has said that since his return to the team Raikkonen has visited the factory on numerous occasions and will be there at least once a week during the season.

Raikkonen returns to Ferrari following a five year absence from the squad and the fact that Alonso is well integrated in the team Domenicali believes that this means that Raikkonen has had to work harder.

This season, Ferrari along with Mercedes have one of the strongest and most experienced line-ups on the grid. That is exactly what a time like Ferrari need this season will all the changes that are coming in this season.
