The Lotus F1 Team are expecting to have a late start to the day of the second winter test in Bahrain. Pastor Maldonado was behind the wheel of the E22 today and was only able to complete 26 laps.

The Venezuelan brought out the red flags twice as his car came to stop out on track. The team confirmed that the issue with the E22 was gearbox related. The team's gearboxes are all built in house and due to the nature of their problems it requires the team to fly parts out to Bahrain overnight which may result in them starting tomorrow's final day late.

The Enstone based team missed the opening test of the season in Jerez at the end of last month and they have had similar problems to the other Renault powered squad's.

Pastor Maldonado has stated that he is not concerned by the issues that the team have had and is confident that the team can solve the issues that they are having and he is hopeful that he can get more time in the car tomorrow as he will continue the teams work ahead of the start of the new season.
