In a further major boost for the Williams F1 Team they have this morning, announced the appointment of Felipe Massa's former Ferrari race engineer Rob Smedley who joins the Grove based squad as Head of Vehicle Performance.

The pair spent were together at Ferrari  since the 2006 European Grand Prix and have secured 11 wins, 36 podiums and 15 pole positions in 135 Grand Prix together.

The news comes following months of speculation surrounding Smedley's future at Ferrari after the arrival of Kimi at Ferrari.

Smedley is not the new operational appointment at the team as they also confirmed this morning that they have also signed Richard Lockwood from the Marussia F1 Team and he has joined the Grove outfit as head of race strategy.

Smedley will join the team on time for the Bahrain Grand Prix. His arrival is the latest in a very long list of exciting announcements from the team. There are plenty more on the way.
