The Lotus F1 Team have apologised for a tweet that was posted on the team's official Twitter page yesterday wishing all the athlete's competing at the Winter Olympics in Sochi good luck. The tweet was accompanied by a picture of two men kissing.

The tweet was promptly delighted as it was said to have upset senior management at the Enstone team.

The outfit have a new Russian sponsor, Yota Phone for the 2014 F1 season and their parent company, Yota Devices are set to purchase a ten percent stake in the team.

A spokesperson for the team said the tweet had been unauthorized. Russian authorities have been criticised for their ban on 'gay propaganda'.

It will be interesting to see what sort of reception the team get in Russia when Formula One heads there for the first time as Sochi will host the first ever Russian Grand Prix in October. This situation with the team is just a small blip and they will bounce back from it. I think it is a case of a storm in a teacup.
