Ferrari's Fernando Alonso has called on his fans to be patient as rumors continue to persist about the Spaniard's Formula One future following the news last weekend that Infiniti Red Bull Racing's Sebastian Vettel will be leaving the reigning world champions at the end of the season with it almost certain that the German will join Ferrari although the Italian team are refusing to comment on the speculation.
It was also reported on the eve of the Japanese Grand Prix that Fernando Alonso had informed Ferrari that he would be leaving the team at the end of the season despite having two years left to run on his current contract however their has been no comment on this report.
When asked by NBC Sport about what he will do next season the Spaniard was not giving anything away although he did confirm that he will not be driving for a Mercedes powered outfit next season which rules out a move to the Lotus F1 Team who will make the switch from Renault to Mercedes power next season.
It also rules out a move to Mercedes or the Williams Martini Racing Team as both outfits have contracts in place with their drivers for next season.
It is still possible that the Spaniard could stay at Ferrari next season, however this seems unlikely as the Spaniard has been with the outfit since 2010 and has yet to win the championship with the Italian team.
So that leaves a move to the McLaren-Honda team as the only option for a move to a top outfit however McLaren Racing director Eric Boullier has confirmed that the Woking based outfit are still considering all available options for next season including retaining both Jenson Button and Kevin Magnussen for next season.
Alonso stated recently that he made up his mind two to three months ago win relation to what his future holds.
It is possible but highly unlikely that the Spaniard could take a sabbatical from Formula One next season with the hope that a seat alongside Nico Rosberg would open up at Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team if Lewis Hamilton opted to return to McLaren.
It has been suggested that the reason that McLaren are holding out on announcing their driver line-up is because Alonso is looking for just a one year contract with the Woking based outfit but that the team are looking for him to sign a multi-year agreement with them.
It is possible that the McLaren-Honda could sign Alonso and Jenson Button for 2015. It is unlikely that Alonso would go to Mercedes as it is expected that Lewis Hamilton will extend his current contract with the 2014 Constructors championships as they are close signing a new contract.
Alonso revealed on Twitter today to say:
'Followers! I appreciate your curiosity, whatever rumors you hear..;) you know priority is on the track now. Enjoy, trust #theBestIsYetToCome'
