New GP2 hcampion Joylon Palmer is confident of making the step up to Formula One in 2015 after securing the GP2 title in Sochi at the weekend with one round of the championship remaining in Abu Dhabi next month.
Palmer became the first British driver in Lewis Hamilton in 2006 to win the GP2 championship following an extremely exciting race in Russia where he won the opening race of the Russian Grand Prix giving him 25 points.
He failed to score points in the second race but has claimed the championship by 56 points to Williams Martini Racing's young driver Felipe Nasr.
Palmer, the son of former F1 driver Jonathan Palmer. In an interview with BBC F1 after winning the GP2 title Palmer revealed that he is in talks with a number of F1 team's in relation to a race seat for next season but that nothing is set in set in stone at this stage.
There would appear to be no vacancies available at any of the top team's so it will be interesting to see what happens wit team's further down the grid.
