McLaren Mercedes Racing Director Eric Boullier has confirmed that Jenson Button is not racing for his Formula One future as the team know exactly what he can. Speaking to the BBC, the Frenchman stated:

'We know the value of Jenson and we know he is a world champion-class driver and he has been a world champion already.'

Button has been with the Woking based outfit since 2010 and has had great success with the team despite not having won the championship with them.

Speaking about the future of the racing operation which he is in charge of, Eric Boullier spoke highly of Jenson Button saying:

'I'm in charge of McLaren Racing and we have to build the best for the team. Drivers are obviously very important in the discussion and Jenson is more than considered to stay with us for the long term.'

Not only will McLaren have a new power unit supplier in Honda for next season but they will also have a new title sponsor that has yet to be announced by the outfit so with those changes coming in the team will be looking for some continuity and stability in the team as next season will be somewhat of a transition period for the team.

It has been widely reported that Fernando Alonso will join the Woking based outfit from Ferrari for next season and with two of the most experienced drivers of the grid being able to provide the best technical feedback it would beneficial to McLaren and Honda.

Kevin Magnussen may have out-qualified Jenson Button in nine of the 16 rave's so far this season but the 2009 world champion has scored 94 points, 45 more then Mangnussen so if the team were to sign Alonso they would have a great qualify who scores point's on a regular basis and Button who have proved himself to be a consistent points scorer who can still compete at the top level of Formula One.
