Williams Martini Racing Team's test and development driver Susie Wolff is set to make history once again at the end of the year.

It has been announced that the Scottish driver who made her official Grand Prix weekend debut for the Grove based outfit this season when she took part in Free Practice One at both the British and German Grand Prix will compete in the 2014 Race of Champions which takes place in Barbados becoming the first female racing driver to take part in the event.

The event takes place on December 13-14. Wolff will join fellow F1 driver Romain Grosjean along with Rally cross champion Petter Solberg aswell as 2014 Indianapolis 500 winner Ryan Hunter Reay. The rest of the line up will be confirmed closer to the event.

Speaking about the news Wolff stated:

'I’m so looking forward to racing again“ I have a full-time job at Williams, which is great, but nothing can replace the adrenalin of racing and I can’t wait to get that back. So I’m proud to have been chosen to take part in the Race Of Champions and I’m looking forward to racing against some of the top-rated drivers in the world. '

Wolff went on to say:

'Of course those will be hard guys to beat but as a driver you always want to do the best job you can. Still, I don’t yet have any particular expectations because I’ve never competed at a ROC event before. I’ve never been to Barbados before either but the middle of December is not exactly the worst time to leave for a sunny destination…'
