Outgoing Ferrari president Luca Di Montezemelo has confirmed that Fernando Alonso will leave the Italian team at the end of the season. Speaking to Italian TV, Di Montezemelo confirmed the news by stating that the Spaniard is leaving for two reasons.

Firstly, 'he wants another environment,' and secondly. 'he is an age when he cannot wait to win again.'

The news has yet to be confirmed by Ferrari while Red Bull team boss Christian Horner confirmed that reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel will be driving for the Italian team next season.

Di Montezemelo went on to say:

'He was disappointed that he has not won over these last years and wanted new stimulus.'

For his part, Alonso said in Russia last weekend that he would be not be driving a Mercedes powered car in 2015 and it is time to announce what he will do next season 'the choice will be obvious'

It is widely expected that the Spaniard will join McLaren Honda next season however, Racing Director Eric Boullier has confirmed that an announcement on the teams 2015 driver line-up won't come before the season ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix but will be before the event takes place.
