The British Racing Drivers Club have taken over the day to day running of the Silverstone circuit in Northamptonshire the venue for the British Grand Prix. Three senior executives at the circuit have been suspended as a major management restructuring programme takes place at the circuit.
British Racing Driver Club chairman John Grant and director Lawrence Tomlinson have assumed responsibility of joint executives of Silverstone Circuit Limited (SCL).
Speaking about the suspension of Silverstone Circuit Limited Managing Director Richard Philips, Financial Director Ed Brookes and Legal Director David Thompson, the BRDC has stated:
'the suspension of senior executives at SCL" was "coincidental to the restructure.'
The British Racing Drivers Club own Silverstone Circuit Limited and the new agreement and restructuring programme means that the business will become more streamlined.
In 2010, Silverstone was was awarded the right to host the Formula One British Grand Prix for 17 years and as a result major work was carried out on the circuit which included redesigning the circuit and building a brand new pit-lane and paddock complex.
