Title race far from over

(Mercedes AMG F1 Team)

Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team's Lewis Hamilton has insisted that the race for the 2014 driver's championship is far from over despite the fact the 2008 world champion claimed his fourth consecutive win at yesterday's Russian Grand Prix in Sochi.

Hamilton took victory over team mate Nico Rosberg by 13.6s to head to the US Grand Prix in Austin in three weeks time with 17 point advantage over the German with three race's remaining this season including the double points season finale in Abu Dhabi at the end of November.

The 1-2 finish for the Silver Arrows secured them their very first Constructors championship breaking Infiniti Red Bull Racing's four year grip on the title.

Hamilton's race win yesterday was not only his ninth of the season but also the team's 13th victory of the season. Speaking to the BBC following the Russian Grand Prix, Hamilton stated:

'It is very positive to have the points and be finishing ahead of Nico but history's shown this year that the gap can never be enough, The most important thing is what the gap is at the end of the year.'

Hamilton went on to say:

'There is never a comfortable feeling. I don't think I ever did have a comfortable feeling when I was in a championship fight ever in my life.'

Following yesterday's race, Mercedes motorsport boss Toto Wolff tanked former Mercedes team principal Ross Brawn who played an instrumental role in Mercedes resurgence.
