Lotterer rejects Caterham seat

(Fremont Gooden DPPI for Renault Sport F1)

Three time LeMans 24 Hours winner Andre Lotterer has confirmed that he will not drive for the Leafield based outfit at the Formula One season finale in Abu Dhabi next weekend having revealed on Saturday that the team had offered him the chance to drive for them.

The team who are currently in eleventh place in the championship entered administration last month and missed both the United States and Brazilian Grand Prix and following a crowd funding project are planning to race in Abu Dhabi having had £1,922,640 of the £2.35 million needed in order for the team to travel to the race.

Speaking to Autosport Lotterer stated:

'I'm flattered because you don't get the call to do F1 every day," said the Audi World Endurance Championship driver.'

The German, who drives for Audi in the World Endurance Championship drove the Caterham CT05 at the Belgian Grand Prix earlier this season but suffered a power unit failure on the opening lap of the race.

Lotterer would like to race in F1 again if the opportunity arose that he could drive in a competitive car as he does not want to racing at the back so he seems it is unlikely that he will get another chance to race in Formula One.

While Marcus Ericsson has cut his ties with the Caterham F1 Team (http://paddockeye.blogspot.ie/2014/11/ericsson-terminates-association-with.html) his 2014 Caterham F1 Team mate Kamui Kobayashi has yet to comment on the latest round of reports.
