McLaren Honda have finally confirmed the various media reports that Fernando Alonso did in fact suffer temporary amnesia following his testing crash in Barcelona last month.

McLaren Racing Director Eric Boullier confirmed that Alonso’s temporary memory loss was caused by a normal concussion. The Frenchman stated that as expected Alonso is extremely frustrated not be racing in Australia next weekend. The Spaniard won’t even travel to Australia for the first race and will instead be connected to the team for debriefs and over team events via video link.

Boullier confirmed that the team will respect the normal three week recovery time for Alonso which is the normal period of time for anyone to recovery from a concussion.

The Spaniard has already begun training for the next race in Malaysia which takes place at the end of March.
