Maldonado hopeful of scoring points following two DNF's in the opening two Grand Prix of the season

(Lotus F1 Team)

The Lotus F1 Team’s Pastor Maldonado is staying positive and believes that a clean race will lead to a points finish.

The Venezuelan has suffered two retirements in the opening two Grand Prix of the season in Australia and Malaysia at the weekend. The Enstone outfit who made the switch to Mercedes power over the winter had a positive start to the season in Australia when both Romain Grosjean and Pastor Maldonado qualified in the top ten for the event.

In the race however, neither Maldonado nor Grosjean finished the race. In Malaysia, Grosjean was unlucky as he just missed out on a points finish as he ended the race in eleventh place.

Maldonado believes however that the E23 Hybrid has a lot of potential and that the team will finish in the top ten when they have a trouble free race.
