The Manor Formula One Team have confirmed that Roberto Merhi
will drive alongside Will Stevens for this weekend’s season opening Australian
Grand Prix in Albert Park Melbourne.
The Spanish Formula Renault 3.5 Series driver is no stranger
to Formula One having driven for the Caterham F1 Team during a number of Free
Practice sessions last season however this weekend will be the first time that
he will have raced a Formula One car.
Merhi hopes that he will be able to use his race drive with
Manor this weekend as spring board to secure a full time drive with the UK
based outfit for the 2015 season.
The Spaniard said he is needs a sponsor in order to continue
racing in Formula One however he has been unable to secure support in Spain.
Merhi joins double world champion Fernando Alonso as the second Spanish driver
on the Formula One grid.
