McLaren Mercedes have stated that reports Lewis Hamilton will return to the Woking based outfit next season are 'utterly without foundation.' The report this morning claimed that Hamilton had visited the Woking based outfit three weeks ago.
However, McLaren chairman Ron Dennis said at the Japanese Grand Prix last weekend that the team have NOT decided who will drive for the outfit next season.
Lewis Hamilton has a year remaining on his current Mercedes contract, however Mercedes non executive chairman Niki Lauda has said that the 2008 world champion is set to remain with the Brackley based outfit long-term as a deal has been agreed for him to stay with the team but that they are not yet ready to announce the details.
The Formula One driver market was blown wide open over the weekend when Infiniti Red Bull Racing announced that Sebastian Vettel will leave the team at the end of the season. It is believed that the German will join Kimi Raikkonen at Ferrari next season replacing Fernando Alonso, however no announcement has been made by the Italian team.
