Team orders weren't on the cards at Red Bull in Sochi

Infiniti Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner has stated that the pit-wall never discussed the possibility of imposing team orders in Sochi yesterday.

Daniel Ricciardo and Sebastian Vettel were involved in an intense battle for fifth place in the race during the opening stages of the Grand Prix when Daniel Ricciardo could be heard over the radio saying that he felt that he was losing time behind Vettel however his calls were ignored by the team however the Australian managed to get the undercut on Vettel when he made his one and only pit-stop of the race.

Speaking to Autosport following the race on Sunday, when asked about the situation Horner commented:

'No. There was no discussion about switching, obviously it was very early in the race anyway and so many things can unfold. It didn't make any sense at that point.'

Daniel Ricciardo still has a mathematical chance of winning the championship albeit an extremely remote opportunity to win the title with 100 point's available from the final three race's as the Australian is is currently 92 points behind Lewis Hamilton following the Russian Grand Prix.

Sebastian Vettel is out of the running for the championship and is also leaving the Milton Keynes based outfit at the end of the season.
