The BBC are reporting this evening that Ferrari's Fernando Alonso is on the verge of signing what has been described as a 'two plus one deal' which would see the Spaniard join McLaren for 2015 and 2016 with an option for the 2017 season. However McLaren never make the details of their agreements with drivers public.

Although the team are adamant that both Jenson Button and Kevin Magnussen are still in the running for a drive with the team for next season the BBC's Andrew Benson has stated that according to team insiders Alonso will join Kevin Magnussen at the Woking based outfit next season.

It is believed that if Button does leave McLaren he will join Porsche in World Endurance Championship having reportedly held talks with the German manufacturer over the move next season. McLaren have stated that they will confirm their line up in the build up to the season finale in Abu Dhabi.

McLaren Racing Director Eric Boullier apologised to fans over the United States Grand Prix weekend for the delay in making an announcement regarding 2015.

It is believed however that if Jenson Button's agreement with Porsche is concluded imminently that the 2009 world champion will take the announcement out of McLaren's hands and announce his moce to the World Endurance Championship prior to the end of the Formula One season.
