Formula One does not need the young generation

(Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team)

Formula One Supremo Bernie Ecclestone has stated that the sport doesn't need a younger audience as he says 'Most of these kids haven't got any money.'

In an interview with Campaign Asia Pacific, Mr Ecclestone also stated that female Formula One fans who make up a large proportion of the sports fan-base 'are the most likely to express disappointment of the sport, women in particular like to criticize.

Ecclestone was also critical of social media saying that he would has no interest in Twitter or Facebook. He tried it but felt that he was too old to use social media and doesn't see the value it.

Formula One is now beginning to see the benefits of social media as all the teams and indeed the circuits have a social media presence with an awful lot of fan interaction wihich is absolutely fantastic for the sport.
