World championship leader Lewis Hamilton has confirmed that he will be negotiating his own contract extension with the Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team following his split from Simon Fuller's XIX Entertainment management company.

The 2008 world champion heads to this weekend's Brazilian Grand Prix having secured his tenth victory of the season and his fifth consecutive race victory after leading home Mercedes team mate and championship rival Nico Rosberg by 4.3s to take a 24 point lead in the fight for the championship.

Hamilton, who joined the Brackley based squad from McLaren at the start of last season have a contract in place until the end of next season and it has been confirmed that contract talks between the two parties will not start until this year's world championship has been settled. Speaking about the matter Hamilton said:

'I'm quite comfortable doing it myself. Nico did his himself, Sebastian did his himself and there's no reason I couldn't do it myself. Hamilton told the The Telegraph newspaper.

It has emerged that Hamilton's split from Fuller came as the 2008 world champion wants to manage his own affairs in Formula One.
